About me
I am an independent Celebrant based in Botley, Hampshire.
Before training with the International College of Professional Celebrants I taught Art and DT at a secondary school. My teaching experience has been invaluable, giving me the tools to become a confident, creative and organised Celebrant. Like teaching, being a Celebrant is incredibly rewarding, and every day is different and special. I love my job!
Loving art and its ability to stimulate and calm minds, I run adult art classes in pubs and care homes in my local community, as well as enjoying painting myself.
To relax I set off on long windy walks with my husband Tim and awesome dog Larry. If there’s a pub or café on route, then we are happy.
Why did I become a celebrant?
I have experienced first-hand the importance, joy and comfort brought from beautifully written meaningful words.
My Mum passed away suddenly in 2015, and soon after I was faced with having to consider my own funeral plans after a cancer diagnosis. These were distressing times, and both made me reflect on what I value in life, and what steps needed to be taken to create calm and continued good health. A change in career was needed, and this role resonated with me as it is person centred, creative, and fulfilling.
